THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

"It is easier to do a job right, than to explain why you didn't"

A DAY AT THE BEACH

She skipped barefoot, her pudgy bronze-colored feet dug small valleys of footprints behind her in the powdery sand. One rounded had gripped the rim of a flopping yellow straw hat. Long chestnut-brown spiraled curls danced wildly beneath the hat in the cool salty breeze. Her other hand grasped a brown paper bag, the contents rattling rhythmically with each step.

Her name is Dory. She loves the beach and goes there often with her family to collect seashells, or just take in the scenery. Stopping once to roll down the cuffs of her blue denim overalls and shake out the sand that collected in the crease, Dory rolls the cuffs neatly up before she squats down. Her fleshy knees resting under her chin, the only part of her face visible from beneath her hat. The outgoing tide revealed a field of pink and purple seashells on the damp brown sand.

She set her bag down next to her and carefully inspected each seashell, turning it over once, then over again before dropping it into the bag. She collected about a dozen seashells before a woman's voice called, "Dory!", She looked towards the sound of the voice and answered, "I'm coming Mommy!". Dory slowly got to her feet, grabbing her bag of seashells, then gingerly manueuvering through the field of seashells, the shell edges bit her feet as she tried to avoid stepping on any.

As she tiptoed on the shore on her way to her mother, Dory watched a tiny bird chase a silver-flaked wave back into the ocean, being chased back onto the sand by another wave. After a melodic giggle, she began to imitate the littlebird as she ran back and forth with it playfully, until it finally flew away.

Dory trotted over the incoming waves, splashing and breaking the crests with her feet. Then "kirplunck!" She slipped with a sandy gush, paper bag in hand, into the salty water. A wave slapped her in the face, lifting her hat from her head into the ocean. It tumbled in the foamy wave back to shore. Dory sat in the sandy water, her soaked.dark hair plastered to her face. She pulled it away from her face before the next wave came, losing her paper bag.

Nolonger gripping the paper bag filled with seashells, Dory splashed the water wildly looking for it. She got up from her perch in the laughing water, her body dripping with clammy, sandy water, spitting out some of the salty-tasting sandy water from her mouth, shivering from the cool ocean air.Her lips blue and quivering as Dory managed to retreieve her mangled straw hat that lay in a heep on the soggy sand. A mournful bellow could be heard through the misty air, "Mom........!", as Dory, arms folded in front of her, scampered at a jack rabbit's pace, to her mother further up the beach.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

"Nobody who ever gave their best, regretted it"

My Wonderful Daughter..............

Doesn't she look so cheerful today? But I love her dearly..........she is the sparkle in my eyes.......even though she looks like she is mad at the world right now...........Cheer up my dear.....you have the world at your FEET!!!!

So, Sorry About Dana Reeve

I am so sorry to hear of the death of 44 yr.old widow of actor Christopher Reeve. She was diagnosed with lung cancer last August. When I think about how she stood by her husband's side during his ordeal for almost 9 years until his death....I think back to a wonderful movie he was in with actress Jane Seymour, called, "Somewhere In Time". "At the end of the movie you see the characters Elise and Richard walking off together hand in hand in the clouds...which signifying Heaven...where they will be forever and ever. I know that is where Chris and dana are now.....Chris, no longer in his wheelchair, as the character Elise McKenna in the movie died an old woman, but in Heaven she was still young and beautiful......and will remain so until the end of time.....that is Christopher.....young handsome and vibrant, and Dana, still a constant by his side. He was waiting for her...and it makes my heart tickle just knowing that they are together for always."

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY...........

"What a catepillar calls the end,
The rest of the world calls a butterfly....

What a....................Day?

Today is the beginning of the FCAT......(Florida Comprehensive Assessment test) part of the mandated "No Child Left Behind Act".....a cute little ditty which actually leaves many a child behind. This is so because of the testing's very nature...First, if a child fails to reach potential by the scoring of the test....the child is automatically retained in the grade they were in prior to the test. Second, the test itself is set up for failure, there are no safeguards within the test's diameters to give a child a fair chance to pass. There are barriers that prevent a child a fair chance simply because classwork and other assesment tests should have been able to foresee a child's ability to have any sort of success with this FCAT, yet it does not or else has been diregarded, because no matter what ability level, cognitive level, ect., every child dpending on grade level only takes the same test. So a child with special needs will take the same test as a child who may be deemed a "genius". This is very worrisome to me as a mom........My 13 year old daughter, who has recieved Honors for her work on three report cards/terms, ixs in danger as most of the kids are of having that Honor deemed meaningless by these antiquated testings. Pray for the children!!!!! Pray for the public schools they are being attacked......Children are not supposed to be critical thinkers, and if a brave teacher wants to promote critical thinking, they are attacked for being disruptive and corrupting the morals of our kids..and the schools are threatened to be denied funding if it doesn't 'fire" the teacher.......this is apparently just a round about way for some in government to push for
school vouchers" instead of helping the schools, help the kids.

What is Wrong with George W. Bush?

With all the missteps and slipping poll ratings on everything.........one has to ask...."What is wrong with Dubya?"...No."Not is there something wrong", we know there is, The question is "What?" Could it be his drinking problem has returned? Heavens No!!!!!, That would be too obvious..as obvious goes..........Maybe he has an undiagnosed mental condition, like Bipolar disorder....That would explain his pyschotic behavior lately, growing worse by the day. His speech patterns have grown herendously worse....he cannot complete an intelligible sentence, which can be one reason why so many surrogates want to play interference for him, to shield him. (That did happen during Kennedy's time in the White House too....trying to play down a physical ailment, as was the the case with FDR..trying to shield the public from the knowledge he had polio) but this is so much worse...Dubya's ailments are proving dangerous, cause it is proving his blatant incompetence. "Tone-deafness"is a symtom of Bipolar disorder....and we know he exhibits that and often. His memory problem is another concern.........whether fact or percieved...........we are all in trouble......the best thing Dubya can do to stop the agony.....is to do what Nixon did...spare us the embarrassment any longer, and.........resign!
